Storhaug Rideklubb is a community sports club in Stavanger, Norway, with around 150 members. Affiliated with the Norwegian Confederation of Sports, the Norwegian Equestrian Federation and the Rogaland Equestrian District, the club welcomes anyone interested in becoming a member. At Sørnestunet, it has horses, stables, an indoor riding hall, two outdoor arenas, a riding trail and a clubhouse.
The club offers riding lessons on weekdays, as well as instruction in driving and vaulting. Younger children can join guided pony rides, with parents helping to lead the horses. Members can also take part in social club evenings, youth activities and summer riding camps. The club works with local schools to provide work training and can arrange visits for kindergartens and care homes, as well as therapeutic riding.
Storhaug Rideklubb shares horse-care information and organizes events throughout the year. It also lends helmets, boots and safety vests, and may help families access reduced-cost riding through financial support applications. Membership is required for riders using the club’s facilities.
