Straight Horse is a Danish warmblood dressage breeding operation established in 2008, when it acquired Gl. Allerødgaard in Allerød. Its aim is to breed modern dressage horses for leading riders, combining the qualities sought in young-horse classes with the talent and potential to progress to Grand Prix level. Foals are generally registered with Dansk Varmblod, while the breeder is also open to using stallions from leading European breeding associations.
The breeding programme is founded on two distinguished mare lines: Bøgegården Don Romina, an elite and gold-medal mare in Dansk Varmblod, and Romanik, an elite and bronze-medal mare. Though these foundation mares are no longer active in sport, their pedigrees underpin Straight Horse’s work. The operation seeks to assess offspring both as breeding prospects and in competition. Some are sold as foals, while others may first be tested in young-horse classes at ages four to six. Mares may produce foals through embryo transfer, and colts are generally assessed through Dansk Varmblod’s stallion testing system.
