Strategic Prevention

Strategic Prevention Partnerships is a Newport County, Rhode Island, nonprofit focused on strengthening community health and well-being through prevention, education, support, and collaboration. Its work brings together two complementary efforts: the Newport County Prevention Coalition, which promotes substance use prevention, mental health advocacy, and holistic well-being across age groups, and No Wrong Door, an inter-agency initiative connecting individuals and families with accessible, evidence-based mental health and substance use care.

The organization offers community programs, training, resources, and opportunities to get involved. Mental Health First Aid training helps participants recognize when someone may need support and take initial steps during a mental health or substance use challenge or crisis. Safe Homes encourages parents to take practical steps to prevent underage drinking. Laundry Love partners with local laundromats to help low- or no-income residents pay for washing clothing and bedding. Totally Preventable podcasts share prevention education, awareness, resources, and support. Free Naloxone training covers overdose signs, how to administer Naloxone, and the Good Samaritan Law.
