Strategies for Justice (SFJ), a speaking and training organization, is driven by a mission to promote gender, disability, and racial equity within law enforcement. By shedding light on untold stories of injustice from those within the policing field, SFJ aims to inspire reform within the law enforcement community. SFJ strives to equip individuals, social justice organizations, and higher education institutions with the necessary tools to engage in civil dialogue, collaborate with law enforcement, and effect meaningful change in their communities.
The organization's objectives include advocating for equity-minded legislation, uncovering instances of injustice through storytelling, and providing education and support to the communities it serves. Founded in 2019 as an extension of the historical narrative project The Battle with Moses People (BWMP), SFJ works alongside individuals who share their own experiences at the intersection of race, ability, and gender with law enforcement. SFJ recently collaborated with Cariol Horne, an unjustly fired police officer, to pass Cariol's Law in Buffalo, New York, which mandates police bystander intervention, external investigations, and a reportable registry to tackle abuse and misconduct.
With the goal of implementing this law nationwide, SFJ continues its commitment to justice and advocacy within law enforcement
