Stream Smart is an educational campaign and regional partnership focused on protecting clean water and improving watershed health in Southern Oregon’s Rogue Basin. Bringing together local communities, agencies, schools, watershed organizations, and other partners, it helps people understand how everyday choices can affect nearby creeks, streams, and rivers.

The program offers education and outreach, including Rogue Basin Salmon Watch, which teaches students about clean water and watershed science. It also supports restoration work, such as restoring native plant communities and removing invasive species along waterways to improve habitat and help keep streams cool. Water quality monitoring and related programs encourage communities to protect and improve local waters under the Clean Water Act and other initiatives.

Residents can get involved through community clean-ups, stewardship days, plantings, and maintenance of restoration projects. Stream Smart also shares resources, including restoration and stormwater guides, water quality data, Salmon Watch materials, an invasives resource network, and a Bear Creek Greenway guide and app.
