About StreamScapes Ireland
StreamScapes is an Irish environmental education and community engagement organisation that has connected people with their local catchments since 1989. It works with schools and community groups to help them explore, understand and protect aquatic ecosystems, turning rivers, coasts and other natural places into outdoor classrooms. Through interactive projects, field education, workshops, events and publications, StreamScapes supports environmental awareness, biodiversity protection and lasting community stewardship.
Its work includes catchment projects, accessible learning resources and activities focused on Ireland’s aquatic and natural heritage. Current initiatives include the Kenmare Bay Project, which explores marine and coastal ecosystems and heritage; Connected Seas, a webinar series about marine habitats and biodiversity; and #RestoreNature at Lough Guitane, supporting peatland, river and woodland restoration to help protect drinking water for communities in County Kerry. StreamScapes also contributes to invasive-species education through Stop the Spread and promotes community care for ecologically important Blue Dot waterbodies. Its programme includes public talks, surveys, water-quality monitoring workshops and other events, alongside the StreamScapes: Voices of the Catchment podcast and regular news and updates.
