About streetsandcommons.com
Streets & Commons provides free walkability and pedestrian safety data for addresses worldwide. Users can enter an address to receive a score out of 10, along with four component scores and information about the public data behind each result. The service covers more than 190 countries and requires no sign-up.
Its assessment considers Daily Reach, including nearby shops, healthcare, schools and parks; Street Safety, such as crossings, traffic speed and separation from cars; Transit Reach, including stop density and service frequency; and Walking Comfort, including tree cover, slope, air quality and heat. The analysis draws on sources such as OpenStreetMap, Sentinel-2, US Census, FEMA, NASADEM, Transitland and NHTSA crash records.
Streets & Commons serves city staff, planners, advocates, community groups, researchers, universities, real estate and relocation professionals, and product teams. Users can access an API or query the service through MCP. The method is publicly documented on GitHub and archived on Zenodo with a DOI, while a Python package enables reproducible scoring.
