Stroke Care Newbury

Stroke Care Newbury & West Berkshire is an independent registered charity supporting people affected by stroke in West Berkshire. Its mission is to provide practical help and relief to stroke survivors, their families and carers, from hospital discharge through the journey towards independent living. The charity’s Family Support Service is the first point of contact for people seeking help. Survivors, relatives, carers, hospitals or GPs can request a referral, after which staff offer information, advice and ongoing support, and assess whether a person may benefit from the charity’s rehabilitation and re-ablement group in Woolhampton.

The programme includes physiotherapy, cognitive exercises and communication therapy, with a focus on rehabilitation, confidence building and social interaction. The organisation also offers friendship, a listening ear and encouragement to survivors and those close to them. Its support is intended to address changing needs and help people navigate what can be a challenging period. Stroke Care Newbury & West Berkshire welcomes volunteers and relies on donations and fundraising to sustain its services.
