STRUMAT-LTO is a 48-month project that launched in September 2020. The project's goal is to fill research gaps concerning Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) embrittlement, one of the main causes hindering the long-term operation of nuclear reactors. STRUMAT-LTO will explore issues regarding ageing mechanisms and prediction tools to ensure the safety and longevity of European nuclear power plants. The project will also contribute to the European energy transition and support its efforts to achieve decarbonisation targets. The project is coordinated by Energiatudományi Kutatóközpont (EK) from Hungary. The project gathers 18 partners from 11 countries (EU, UK, and Ukraine). About STRUMAT-LTO

STRUMAT-LTO is a Horizon 2020 project that aims to address the challenges faced by European nuclear power plants in ensuring the safe long-term operation. With a duration of 48 months, the project focuses on Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) embrittlement research, aiming to enhance the safety, reliability, and competitiveness of nuclear power plants. The project is coordinated by Dr.

Ákos Horváth from MTA-EK and Dr. Murthy Kolluri from NRG, with 18 partners from 12 countries collaborating to achieve its objectives. By exploring aging mechanisms and validating prediction tools, STRUMAT-LTO aims to ensure the safety and longevity of EU NPPs.

The project utilizes a variety of compositionally tailored RPV specimens to study the impact of elements causing embrittlement and assess existing prediction tools. It is divided into eight work packages, with activities ranging from generating embrittlement data to dissemination of results and education.
