Stubbs Austin is a renowned brand that offers a unique combination of delicious barbecue, live music, and a vibrant atmosphere. The brand traces its roots back to Christopher B. Stubblefield, affectionately known as Stubb, born in Navasota, Texas.

Stubb's passion for cooking was nurtured by his parents, who were exceptional cooks. After his family moved to Lubbock, Texas, Stubb gained invaluable culinary experience working in local eateries and hotels. Stubb's culinary skills were further honed during his service in the Korean War, where he oversaw the preparation of meals for thousands of soldiers.

Inspired by his love for barbecue and blues music, Stubb opened his first restaurant in 1968 in Lubbock. The restaurant quickly became a hub for the emerging music scene, hosting iconic musicians like Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash. Although the original location is no longer operational, Stubb's legacy lives on at their Austin venue on Red River.
