About MS Stubnitz
The motor ship Stubnitz holds a significant place in German ship-building and fishing history. Since 1992, it has been a mobile and independent platform for contemporary culture and exchange, traveling from its home port in Rostock, Germany to other harbor metropolises in Northern Europe. This 80-meter-long vessel is an ex-East German fishing vessel that was transformed into a moving platform for cultural research and exchange.
With four fully-equipped event areas, including the outside deck, the Stubnitz can cater to audiences of up to 700 people. Over the past two decades, the ship has hosted thousands of artists from various cultural disciplines, such as performance, theater, dance, spoken word, and music. The diverse content presented on board is documented, edited, and preserved in an onboard media archive.
The Stubnitz crew operates on a voluntary basis, resulting in a unique working dynamic that combines maritime roles with arts-based collectivism. Whether you're interested in cultural events or maritime experiences, the Stubnitz offers a one-of-a-kind and inclusive experience
