About Subroto Cup Official
The Subroto Cup International Football Tournament is a prestigious annual inter-school competition held in New Delhi, India, celebrating youthful football talent since its inception in 1960. Named after Air Marshal Subroto Mukerjee, the tournament attracts championship school teams from across India and around the globe, fostering international camaraderie through sport.
Over the years, the tournament has grown exponentially, evolving from a local event with just 50 teams to a grand stage featuring approximately 34,000 school teams nationwide, including international participants from countries like Brazil, the UK, and Australia. With categories spanning Sub Junior Boys (U/14), Junior Boys (U/17), and Junior Girls (U/17), the Subroto Cup aims to encourage grassroots football development.
Conducted by the Air Force Sports Control Board, the tournament includes preliminary inter-school competitions at state and union territory levels, culminating in the finals at the national stage. Recognized for its significant contribution to sports, the Subroto Mukerjee Sports Education Society received the “Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar” for its dedication to promoting football in India.
