Subvento

Subvento, Inc. is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by John and Tina Koeshall to support people in need in the United States and around the world. Rather than duplicating existing efforts, the organization partners with local leaders and groups, equipping them with practical training and resources to strengthen work already underway. Its programs have reached communities across the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Subvento offers self-protection and empowerment training through Street Smart Defender, a program designed to help people recognize and escape unwanted attacks while building confidence. The organization also teaches Brazilian jiu-jitsu and supports programs for at-risk children and youth, including training and sponsoring local instructors. Its E-Armor training provides a practical approach to verbal conflict resolution and leadership, drawing on Christian principles alongside security and combatives perspectives. Martial arts instruction also helps build lasting relationships and community connections.

Subvento trains leaders, certifies workers, and supports local teams so programs can continue after its visits.
