Deutscher Orden Ordenswerke

Gut Sassenscheid is a social participation and addiction-support residence in Nachrodt-Wiblingwerde, North Rhine-Westphalia, operated within the social services of the Deutscher Orden. Set in a rural former estate near the Sauerland, it offers accommodation for up to 25 women and men seeking to maintain long-term abstinence from alcohol and/or medication. The small, family-oriented community combines a calm natural setting with access to nearby towns including Lüdenscheid, Iserlohn, Letmathe and Hagen.

Support is tailored to each person’s circumstances and goals. Residents work with staff to develop an individual support plan and take part in a structured, everyday routine that includes social-pedagogical assistance, group sessions, work and activity projects, and leisure programmes. The service also includes medical care and an external residential group in Altena. Through Sassenscheid mobil, the team provides flexible assistance to people with addiction-related conditions in their own homes, from a few hours a week to more extensive support.

The programme aims to foster sustained abstinence, personal wellbeing, independence, practical and social skills, and social and vocational reintegration.
