About Sudbury Gasworks
Sudbury Gasworks is a unique and architecturally significant brand located in the heart of Sudbury Parish. Built in 1874 by renowned architect George Devey, it served as a gas production facility for Sudbury Hall and surrounding houses. However, the building fell into disrepair in the 1930s.
Fortunately, a dedicated group of local volunteers embarked on a mission to rescue and restore the Gasworks. Thanks to their efforts, as well as support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and others, the building has been restored to its former glory. Today, Sudbury Gasworks is open to the public and offers a range of products and services.
Visitors can explore the history of the Gasworks and Sudbury Village during the National event Heritage Open Days. Those looking for an exciting evening can attend the Murder Mystery Dinner and Show, where they can put their detective skills to the test. Additionally, the Gasworks hosts events like Pumpkin Illuminations and Quiz Night, providing entertainment for the whole family.
By supporting Sudbury Gasworks through volunteering, donations, or venue hire, you can contribute to the preservation and maintenance of this remarkable piece of history
