Summit SkiMo Club

Summit Skimo Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Summit County, Colorado, where it has operated since 2011. Founded on the idea that community can help grow ski mountaineering racing, or “skimo,” the club works to introduce, develop, and support the sport locally and beyond. Its vision is an active local membership that strengthens skimo’s competitiveness and visibility in the United States.

The club offers members access to demo gear and social ski-touring events, and provides community workshops and free clinics. It also volunteers at skimo races and organizes an after-school youth intramural club, supporting participation and youth development. Beyond skiing, Summit Skimo promotes education and awareness around snow safety, fitness, healthy lifestyles, alpine culture, and sportsmanship. It advocates for access to human-powered skiing and environmental stewardship.

Community, fun, participation, growing interest, and youth development are central to the organization’s values. Supported by sponsors and individual donors, Summit Skimo invites people to get involved through membership, events, and donations, helping build a stronger skimo community in Summit County and beyond.
