Suolistosairaudet ry is a nationwide Finnish advocacy organisation for people living with intestinal diseases and their loved ones. It supports members through peer connection, reliable information and efforts to influence decisions affecting people with these conditions. Its work covers diverticulosis; inflammatory bowel diseases, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis; irritable bowel syndrome; chloride diarrhoea; short bowel syndrome; microscopic colitis; and bile acid diarrhoea.

The organisation offers a range of peer-support opportunities, including local gatherings, online meetings and one-to-one conversations through the Toivo peer-support app. Toivo provides support and information without requiring participants to exchange contact details. Suolistosairaudet ry also shares information through traditional and social media, and publishes guidance about how illness and symptoms can affect everyday life and different life stages.

Among its practical offerings is Vessapassi, a card that users can show staff at public venues when requesting immediate access to a toilet. The organisation also provides events, membership benefits and opportunities to support its activities.
