Suomen Kätilöliitto

Suomen Kätilöliitto ry, also known as the Federation of Finnish Midwives, is a long-established professional and advocacy association that brings together midwives and midwifery students in Finland. The association supports the profession, promotes midwives’ expertise and contributes to discussion and decision-making on maternity, reproductive and women’s health. Its activities include professional education, events and collaboration with local associations, other health professionals, Nordic midwifery organizations and international partners.

Members can access benefits and apply for grants and scholarships, while students can find information about studying midwifery and student membership. The Federation publishes Kätilölehti, a professional journal and continuing-education resource available to members and by subscription. It also provides care recommendations and practical guidance for professionals, and shares news, statements, opinions and blog articles on current issues affecting midwives, expectant parents and families. Through training, publications, resources and advocacy, Suomen Kätilöliitto helps strengthen professional knowledge and supports the development of midwifery in Finland.
