Suomen Kylät ry is an advocate for rural villages, Leader groups, and neighborhood associations, working towards local development. They aim to promote the well-being and participation of local communities and their residents. Their mission is to be the voice of local development, striving for thriving villages and resident communities with the ability to influence the development of their own living environment.

Suomen Kylät ry brings together local developers and acts as a national network, utilizing expertise and fostering joint innovation. They represent approximately 4,000 village associations and committees, 19 regional village associations, 54 regional Leader groups, as well as a growing number of municipal level village federations and neighborhood associations. Their focus areas include securing livelihoods, promoting a good environment, ensuring adequate services, and enhancing the social welfare of residents.
