SupERkids

SupERkids is a parent-run charity supporting children and young people with additional support needs in East Renfrewshire. It provides weekly clubs and regular family events designed to encourage social interaction, independence, confidence and the development of new skills. Its activities offer fun, engaging and sometimes challenging experiences for children with complex needs and multiple disabilities, while giving families respite or an opportunity to spend time together in an accessible, inclusive environment.

Recent clubs have included Glee, cooking, dance and forest activities, alongside music, movement and other learning opportunities. SupERkids plans support around each child’s individual needs, using care plans to guide the assistance required. Trained staff provide appropriate medical and personal care, communication support and understanding, and many children receive one-to-one or two-to-one support to participate safely. The charity also works with East Renfrewshire Council’s Inclusive Support Department to arrange support services. Membership is open to children resident in East Renfrewshire. SupERkids relies on funding to provide suitable support and opportunities, and states that donations go directly to the children.
