Silk Sisters

Supporting Silk Sisters Inc. is a registered Australian incorporated charity that began volunteering in Cambodia in 2013. It is a non-political and non-evangelical organisation whose volunteers meet their own expenses. The charity focuses on improving health care in rural communities and underserved urban areas, particularly in Takeo Province. Its services include free pop-up primary health and dental clinics in villages, slums and displacement camps, as well as clinical education, coaching and support for midwives and nurses at Prey Kabas Referral Hospital. It also provides medical equipment and medicines to the hospital and supports care for children with serious health needs.

Past projects include constructing a birthing room, supplying obstetric beds and operating-theatre equipment, supporting nursing education, and helping families with housing and children with nutrition, medical treatment and school resources. Its continuing priorities include primary health clinics, dental care for children, ongoing health and safety support for individual children, and supporting education and safety initiatives for poor girls with the Don Bosco Salesian Nuns.
