Surface71

Surface 71 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization run solely by high school students in Palm Beach County, Florida. Its work focuses on raising awareness about plastic pollution and helping keep local communities and oceans cleaner. The organization offers volunteer opportunities, including monthly beach cleanups that are open to everyone and enable high school students to earn service hours. It also encourages students to create plastic-free zones in their schools and shares steps for reducing plastic use.

Alongside its cleanup and education efforts, Surface 71 has installed water refill stations in eleven local schools. It also shares its message through educational displays, including sculptures made from trash collected from the ecosystem. These sculptures feature Esmeralda, Harry the Hammerhead, and Danny the Angler Fish, and have been displayed at local institutions and schools. Through events, partnerships, and student-led initiatives, Surface 71 connects environmental learning with practical action and community participation. The organization also accepts donations to support its mission.
