Surfstage is an annual music and arts festival held in a field in Parbold, near Wigan, bringing people together to enjoy music, creativity, food and shared activities. Founded by sisters Rachel Birkett and Katie Street, who have experience running hospitality businesses and organizing beer and music festivals, Surfstage grew from an afternoon event in 2019 into a weekend celebration. The festival offers live music, arts, food, activities for adults and children, and affordable weekend camping. Day tickets and activities are free, and visitors can arrive without booking day tickets in advance; camping is available for a fee. Surfstage also invites people to volunteer, with team roles offering options from a single day to the full weekend, including meals and, for full-weekend volunteers, free camping. Musicians can apply to play, while the festival’s programme, lineup and gallery help visitors explore what’s on offer.
