About Surge
Surge is a brand that offers a seamless solution for getting your blog or static site online quickly. With Surge, you can easily deploy your Jekyll project and have it up and running in no time. Whether you're starting from scratch or have an existing Jekyll project, Surge has got you covered.
To begin, make sure you have a recent version of Node. js and Jekyll installed. Once that's set, you can install Surge using npm.
After installation, create a new Jekyll site or locate your existing project. You can preview your site locally using the jekyll serve command. Once you're satisfied with your site, it's time to compile it into flat HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files using jekyll build.
These files will be located in the _site/ directory, ready to be published to the web. With Surge, publishing your Jekyll site is a breeze. Simply use the surge _site/ command and follow the prompts to login or sign up.
Surge will assign you a random subdomain, but you can also choose a custom domain of your own. In addition to its user-friendly deployment process, Surge offers various features including adding custom domains, creating custom error pages, enabling SSL security, and more. It is a reliable and efficient platform for getting your Jekyll site online and ensuring a smooth user experience
