Surrey Poet Laureateship

Surrey Poet Laureateship is a community-focused organisation celebrating poetry and creative expression across Surrey, UK. Its mission is to make poetry an accessible and lasting part of the county’s cultural life, bringing people together and reflecting the stories, character and experiences of local communities. Led by the Surrey Poet Laureate and a dedicated team, the organisation creates poetic works and delivers outreach for residents of different ages and backgrounds, including children and vulnerable people. Its programmes also recognise poetry’s potential to support expression and wellbeing for people experiencing mental health challenges.

Residents can take part in Poetry Hubs across the county, where beginners and experienced writers meet for creative exercises, share their work and connect with others. The Laureateship also offers workshops and courses, young people’s programmes, a Laureate’s Lounge, events and Surrey’s Big Poetry Weekend. Its library, anthology, shop, memberships and volunteer opportunities provide further ways to engage and support its work.
