About SUSBIND
SUSBIND_BBI is a brand that focuses on providing sustainable and innovative solutions for the European furniture industry. The brand is part of the SUSBIND Project, a collaborative research and innovation project in the field of bioeconomy. The project brings together 11 partners from 6 EU countries, including big industry players, small and medium-sized companies, universities, and research centers.
The SUSBIND Project has received a significant funding of €4. 1 million from the Bio-Based Industries – Joint Undertaking and the Bio Based Industries Consortium. Additionally, the industry partners have committed to contributing €1.
4 million to this public-private partnership. The main objective of the SUSBIND Project is to develop and test bio-based binders as an alternative to formaldehyde binders used in wood-based panel boards. These binders are made from renewable resources and sourced from existing European biorefineries.
The project aims to produce and validate these bio-based binders with leading wood board manufacturers for two product types: P2 particle board and medium density fibreboard. By offering sustainable solutions, SUSBIND_BBI is contributing to the transition towards a more eco-friendly and renewable future for the European furniture industry
