Suurpilkit

Tornion Suurpilkit is Finland's largest ice fishing event, celebrated annually on the frozen Torne River in the heart of Tornio since 1996. This three-day festival attracts over 12,000 visitors at its peak, making it a highly anticipated spring highlight. The event features a rich and diverse program designed for all ages, combining competitive fishing with a vibrant festive atmosphere.

Participants can compete for impressive prizes in various categories, including daily cash awards for the top three contestants and special prizes for youth and women. Additionally, every year, the event hosts a lottery for personal vehicles, encouraging everyone who purchases a fishing permit to take part. Access to the event area is free; however, a fishing permit is required to compete, which also doubles as a lottery ticket.
