Suzi Elena Apelgren is a Danish author, speaker and cultural-history communicator who brings the experiences of ordinary people into historical narratives. A former anaesthesia, intensive-care and military nurse, she served with the United Nations in Sarajevo in 1992–93. Her background also includes classical singing and museum leadership; today, she focuses on writing books and giving talks.

Apelgren’s work explores military, social and cultural history through personal accounts, eyewitness testimony, photographs and letters. Her books examine the realities of war and its human consequences, as well as the lives of craftspeople, workers, women and soldiers. By foregrounding the people who experienced historical change, she connects everyday life with broader events and shared cultural heritage.
