Svenska Botaniska Föreningen

The Swedish Botanical Society is a nonprofit association that brings together people interested in botany and works to increase knowledge of and protect Sweden’s wild plants. Its mission includes raising awareness of plant biodiversity and ecological importance through research, education and public engagement, while supporting the conservation and sustainable management of natural ecosystems.

The Society offers opportunities to learn about plants and take part in practical conservation and recording projects. These include Floraväktarna, the Växtatlasprojektet and seasonal activities such as the Day of Wildflowers. Members can connect with local botanical associations, join courses and events, and explore resources through Botanikportalen, including botanical identification keys and information about plant life.

The Society also publishes Svensk Botanisk Tidskrift and Vilda Växter, and offers books and periodicals through its webshop. Its website features botanical news, a calendar, plant-focused initiatives and educational material, as well as information about membership and ways to support its work. Together, these services help enthusiasts deepen their botanical knowledge and contribute to the protection of wild plants.
