Schermvereniging Hoorn is a fencing club serving Hoorn and the surrounding area, welcoming people who want to try fencing or develop their skills. The club holds training every Tuesday evening in the gymnasium at De Wissel school in Hoorn. Sessions combine physical conditioning, footwork practice and instruction to help members learn or improve their fencing technique, alongside time devoted to fencing itself.

Affiliated with the Royal Dutch General Fencing Association (KNAS), Schermvereniging Hoorn offers opportunities to participate at both recreational and competitive levels. Beginners and experienced fencers alike build on the fundamentals: sound basic technique is essential for enjoying a fencing bout, whatever a member’s goals. Those who progress can develop into competitive fencers and take part in national and international competitions. The club’s training programme and membership information are available through its website, and prospective members can enquire about arranging a trial lesson. Schermvereniging Hoorn provides a local setting to learn, practise and pursue fencing, whether for recreation or as a pathway toward competition.
