Svolvær Historielag was a local history association dedicated to documenting and sharing the heritage of Svolvær and the surrounding Vågan area in Norway’s Lofoten region. Its website brings together material on the town’s past, including historical photographs and postcards, place names, landmarks, maps, buildings, traditions, arts, sports, legends, genealogy, and the Lofoten fishery. It also features research and articles about the medieval trading centre of Vågar, the historic rorbu system, archaeological sites, and events such as the Lofotraid.
The association supported local heritage projects and community initiatives, including improvements in Svolværmarka and efforts to preserve historic landmarks. It helped install an information plaque at a reconstruction of Svolvær’s old town kiosk and organized the return of a 16th-century memorial cross to Svolvær Church. In August 2024, the association was dissolved because no new leaders could be found.
Its website was expected to remain available until 2026, continuing to provide access to its historical resources
