SV Tornado

Schaakvereniging Tornado is a chess club based in Druten, Netherlands, centered on chess enjoyment, challenge, and social connection. The club welcomes players of all skill levels and meets every Friday at Mamre, Kattenburg 59. Youth sessions run from 18:45 to 20:00, followed by senior play from 20:00 until midnight.

Tornado offers a range of ways to get involved, including youth chess instruction, internal competitions, rapid chess, blitz games with time handicaps, and opportunities for home players and online chess enthusiasts to play in person. Its youth program includes lessons, competitions, school chess, Grand Prix events, and the Schaaknacht, a youth chess evening featuring prizes. Members can also take part in external team competition: KNSB matches are held on Saturdays at Dorpshuis de Lier in Puiflijk.

The club shares schedules, results, regulations, news, and chess puzzles, and hosts free trial play evenings for prospective participants. Through its activities and community support, Tornado promotes chess for young people and adults in the region
