About The Swarthmore Phoenix
The Swarthmore Phoenix is the independent campus newspaper of Swarthmore College, published since 1881. As the only print newspaper on campus, it provides the community with reliable and insightful journalism. Completely student-run, The Phoenix reports on the college for the college, offering unbiased coverage without any restrictions or review from the administration or other organizations.
The publication's decision-making process is independent, and its funding is mediated through the Student Budget Committee, ensuring a free and autonomous voice. The Phoenix distributes a 12-page print issue every week on Thursdays, covering a wide range of topics including news, opinion, business, books, interviews, politics, travel, arts, sports, and campus life. Students are encouraged to engage with The Phoenix by attending EdBoard meetings or visiting the offices at Parrish Hall to voice their concerns.
With a rich history dating back to 1881, The Phoenix's print issues are archived in McCabe Library. Stay informed and connected with The Swarthmore Phoenix
