SWaTH Project, also known as Sustainable Wastewater Treatment for Hospitals, is a 3-year initiative co-funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union. The project aims to address the challenges of wastewater treatment in hospitals and promote sustainable waste management practices. The consortium behind SWaTH consists of 11 organizations from five European and South Mediterranean countries, including France, Sweden, Finland, Spain, and Lebanon.

The project brings together European higher education institutions and factories with cutting-edge developments to share their expertise and innovative learning practices with partner countries in the Southern Mediterranean region. The main objectives of the SWaTH Project include training and refining the scientific knowledge of Lebanese scientists and students, evaluating wastewater treatment methods in Lebanon compared to European best practices, and establishing a leading center in Lebanon for the analysis and characterization of wastewater. The project is divided into 5 work packages, focusing on preparation, development, quality assurance, dissemination, and project management.

SWaTH aims to modernize the higher education field in the Southern Mediterranean countries, improve the quality of education, enhance relevance for the labor market, and promote internationalization. The project's outcomes include the establishment of long-term cooperation networks, pioneering studies on life cycle assessment, academic capacity development, and public awareness about sustainable waste management. Overall, the SWaTH Project is dedicated to driving innovation and promoting sustainable wastewater treatment practices in hospitals while fostering transnational cooperation and knowledge exchange in the higher education sector
