Sweat Vs Steam is an annual community running event held beside the Murray River in Echuca, Victoria, with courses winding through the historic Port of Echuca. Its distinctive challenge invites participants to race the PS Pevensey paddle steamer and reach the finish line ahead of the boat. The event welcomes a range of ages and abilities, offering a 500-metre junior dash, a 1-kilometre race, and 5- and 10-kilometre runs.
The longer courses use Scenic Drive, with the 10-kilometre route completing a full lap and the 5-kilometre route a half lap; sections include dirt roads beside the river. Scheduled for Sunday, 15 November 2026, the event also provides race-day information, course maps, bib collection, results, and details about medals, prizes, road closures, and volunteering. Sweat Vs Steam is organised to raise funds for the local community, with all event profits donated to Echuca Regional Health.
Participants can enter online, and organisers provide event updates and contact information through the official event website
