The Mendota Sweet Corn Festival is a long-running annual community celebration organized by the Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce in downtown Mendota, Illinois. Now in its 79th year, the festival is scheduled for August 6–9, 2026, and welcomes visitors to enjoy a lively mix of food, entertainment, and family activities. Its signature attraction is a free serving of hot, buttered sweet corn on Sunday, traditionally cooked with the help of a vintage steam engine.
Across the four-day event, guests can also enjoy carnival rides and games for all ages, free live musical entertainment, a grand parade, and food booths featuring regional, ethnic, and festival favorites. Other attractions include a crafters marketplace and flea market with more than 200 dealers, a Queen Pageant, and a beer garden featuring live bands. Most events are offered without admission or parking fees, though the beer garden charges a fee.
The festival also provides information on schedules, lodging and camping, directions, vendors, and registration, with carnival Mega Passes available for purchase online
