Swim the Night is an open-air swimming event built around an endurance challenge at lidos and heated outdoor pools. Participants swim either 1 kilometre or 1 mile at the start of each hour, choosing a 12-hour or, where offered, 24-hour event. The challenge can be completed individually or in a team of two to four, with teammates able to share the swimming hours and distance.
Events take place at Guildford Lido and Hampton Heated Open Air Pool, with scheduled sessions spanning evening, night and morning hours. The Swim the Night village provides a place to rest between swims, with options including a midnight meal, coffee, hot chocolate and tents for sleeping. The event welcomes swimmers seeking a personal endurance test or a shared team experience, supported by fellow participants through the night.
Swim the Night also promotes fundraising for Aspire, its charity partner, which supports people living with spinal cord injury in the UK. Event information, registration, results, FAQs and galleries are available through its website
