Swindon Heritage Preservation is a building preservation charity and community organisation based in Swindon. Established in 1995 as the Mechanics’ Institution Trust, it works to conserve the buildings, places and stories that shape the town’s heritage. The Trust combines restoration and conservation with community use, aiming to bring Swindon’s heritage back to life while creating social benefit.
Its work centres on heritage buildings in Emlyn Square, at the heart of Swindon’s historic Railway Village. The organisation offers a range of unique, affordable spaces for hire, suitable for meetings, training, workshops, events, lectures, children’s parties and fitness classes. Visitors can also explore the Railway Village Museum, while residents and visitors can take part in heritage and community events, projects and activities held throughout the year.
People can support the Trust by becoming members, volunteering, donating or joining the Swindon Community Lottery. Membership includes access to heritage and community events and helps fund restoration projects.
