Swindon Panel Society is a dedicated charitable organization focused on preserving the historical significance of the Swindon Panel, a hallmark of Western Region railway signaling since the 1960s. Situated at Didcot Railway Centre, the Society has meticulously reconstructed and refurbished the panel to its 1980s form, allowing visitors to engage with railway history through realistic demonstrations, including an interactive simulator. This immersive experience provides educational opportunities for all ages, inviting guests to "have a go" at operating the signaling system.
The Society not only showcases its extensive Photo Gallery, which chronicles the panel's legacy, but also encourages community involvement through membership and various fundraising initiatives. Collaborating with organizations like Network Rail and the Great Western Society, Swindon Panel Society aims to ensure this vital piece of railway heritage is preserved for future generations. As a registered charity, the Society welcomes support from individuals and groups passionate about railway history and education.
