Swistak Scholarship

The Stephen Swistak, M.D. Memorial Fund is a Southeast Michigan nonprofit established to honor Steve’s life and carry forward his legacy through education, community support, and medical research. Guided by the values of a physician, athlete, family member, and friend, the fund brings people together to create meaningful opportunities and offer hope to others.

Its initiatives include supporting a scholarship endowment for student-athletes at Michigan State University, contributing to the Munn Ice Arena renovation project, and advancing esophageal cancer research through the Esophageal Cancer Action Network. Since 2021, the fund has also partnered with The Rainbow Connection to grant wishes for children with critical illnesses. To date, it has helped eight children and their families enjoy trips to Walt Disney World.

The fund raises support through activities including its annual golf outing, which began in 2016 and welcomes participants, donors, and sponsors. Its 2026 event offers businesses an opportunity to partner with the organization.
