SWMC

The South Wales Mountaineering Club (SWMC), established in 1960, is dedicated to fostering a passion for mountaineering among outdoor enthusiasts. With approximately 110 members, the club serves as a social and activity hub for individuals ranging from total beginners to experienced climbers. SWMC operates branches in Cardiff and Swansea, providing a vibrant community for both indoor and outdoor climbing.

The club organizes regular activities, including climbing meets that occur at various locations across Britain, as well as specialized introductory sessions for newcomers to the sport. Members can participate in diverse activities such as rock climbing, scrambling, and hill walking, tailored to all experience levels. Additionally, the club is affiliated with the British Mountaineering Council (BMC), ensuring members have access to resources and support.

Individuals aged 18 and over are welcome to join, alongside junior members aged 7 to 17. SWMC focuses on creating a welcoming environment where shared interests in climbing and mountaineering unite like-minded individuals.
