SWSRA

South West Special Recreation Association (SWSRA) provides year-round therapeutic recreation programs and services for individuals with intellectual and/or physical disabilities. Its work focuses on building community through recreation and expanding access to activities that support purpose, joy, and physical, mental, and emotional wellness. Programs and special events serve participants from early childhood through adulthood, with an emphasis on safe, inclusive, and enjoyable experiences.

SWSRA’s offerings include OASIS, an adult day program, and the Sensory Depot, where participants can explore sensory experiences at their own pace. A seasonal program brochure outlines available activities, and registration is accepted by email, mail, fax, or drop-off once the brochure is available online. The association also welcomes community support through donations, fundraising, volunteering, and sharing its mission, and offers opportunities to join its team. Based in Alsip, Illinois, SWSRA provides recreation opportunities intended to encourage participation, learning, social connection, and independence.
