Southwest Colorado Umpires is an umpire organization serving Colorado Area 11, centered on the Durango region and including Pagosa Springs, Bayfield, Ignacio, Durango, Cortez, Dolores, and Dove Creek. It welcomes people interested in learning the craft of baseball umpiring and contributing to a positive playing environment for local communities. The organization provides professional oversight of baseball contests, helping teams and spectators enjoy the game while supporting healthy competition for youth players.

New umpires can follow a getting-started process that includes registration, orientation, testing, and a required background check through CHSAA. Southwest Colorado Umpires offers comprehensive training for new officials before each season and is developing instructional resources for both new and experienced umpires. Topics include rules, two-umpire mechanics, base mechanics, movement and rotations, and game management. The organization also shares information about uniforms, equipment, field directions, school contacts, and forms; some loaner gear may be available. Umpires provide their availability to be scheduled for games, with the high school season running from March through the end of May.
