About Sydney Health Literacy Lab
Sydney Health Literacy Lab is a research group located at the University of Sydney School of Public Health, dedicated to improving health outcomes for diverse communities. Their mission is to build health literacy skills and capacities in the population, ensuring that the healthcare environment is sensitive to the needs of the whole community. By empowering patients and consumers, they aim to support better health decisions and outcomes for all.
The lab values collaboration, conducting work to the highest academic standards while engaging with clinical practices and community groups in Western Sydney. They are also a founding partner of Wiser Healthcare, a research collaboration exploring overdiagnosis and overtreatment. Sydney Health Literacy Lab's research focuses on equity, low-value care, patient engagement and shared decision making, and applied health literacy, covering various fields such as cancer, primary care, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and women's health.
