Washington Capoeira Center

Seattle Capoeira Center is a Seattle-based school dedicated to teaching and preserving Capoeira Angola through movement, music, culture, and community. The center describes itself as a leading capoeira school in the Northwest and is led by founder and Head Master Mestre Mangangá, alongside a team of experienced instructors and the guidance of Grande Mestre Nô. Their teaching draws on Capoeira Angola’s Brazilian roots and emphasizes not only physical skills, but also respect, resilience, creativity, and cultural connection.

The center offers adult Capoeira classes, free youth and family classes, and a monthly roda, where participants gather to practice and share the art. Newcomers can begin with a free introductory class, and uniforms are available through the center. Its instructors bring decades of experience and backgrounds in education, theater, yoga, and community arts, supporting classes for a range of students. Through its nonprofit initiative, Capoeira Life, the organization also provides free and low-cost programs for underserved youth, with related community work extending to Pierce County.
