Sylvia Furmaniak

Sylvia Furmaniak is a German author who shares her experiences of serious illness, near-death experiences and life with ME/CFS. After a post-infectious meningoencephalitis in 2004, she experienced two near-death episodes; in 2019, she again came close to dying. Her life now takes place largely while lying down, and her work reflects on how to live with disability in a way that remains meaningful, courageous, gentle and authentic.

Through her book, Furmaniak opens up about her most personal experiences, speaking on behalf of people who may be unable to express what they are going through.
