SYMBIOREM Project is a brand dedicated to addressing the serious threat of pollutants and environmental pollution to human health and biodiversity. They aim to support the EU Zero Pollution Action Plan by developing innovative strategies for removing pollution from soils, sediments, surface water, and groundwater through revitalization and bioremediation solutions. Additionally, SYMBIOREM aims to create new circular business models that transform residues and contaminants from polluted environments into valuable resources.

To ensure safety and acceptance of bioremediation solutions, SYMBIOREM engages citizens in participatory research, collaborative modeling, and co-design and collaborative management of bioremediation technologies. Bioremediation is the use of biological organisms to consume and break down pollutants in order to clean polluted sites. SYMBIOREM will develop 12 innovative nature-based bioremediation solutions, which can be used individually or combined, to effectively remove pollution.

The project is led by a team of experts, including research scientists, professors, and environmental specialists, who work together to develop sustainable and effective solutions.
