Sympa

Sympa is an open-source mailing list management software project that provides tools for creating, administering, and using email discussion and distribution lists. Its features include subscriber and account management, list moderation, message archiving, and web-based administration through WWSympa. Administrators can configure authentication, manage list owners and editors, and connect subscriber information to data sources such as CSV databases. Sympa also provides command-line and SOAP interfaces for operational tasks and integrations.

The software supports email security and reliability capabilities, including DKIM and ARC message handling, spam-related scenarios, and one-click unsubscribe in line with RFC 8058. Web archives let users browse past messages and share message links. The project publishes downloadable source code, an administration manual, security advisories, and community resources, including mailing lists, GitHub repositories, and contribution guidance. Sympa’s releases include ongoing enhancements, bug fixes, and translation updates, reflecting active development by contributors. It is intended for organizations and communities that need to manage email communications at scale, with configurable tools for list administration, subscriber communication, and archive access.
