Synchronet is a software project focused on bulletin board system (BBS) technology, helping users create and operate online communities with a distinctly classic BBS experience. Its flagship software, Synchronet BBS, is available for Windows, with installation and upgrade packages for supported releases. The project’s news highlights ongoing development, release announcements, and improvements to system administration and connectivity.

Recent versions have introduced features such as an extensible user database, updated configuration formats, MQTT integration for remote monitoring and management, improved internationalization, and a JavaScript command shell. Other releases have expanded file handling, archive support, web and mail server capabilities, SSH connectivity, and compatibility with older DOS programs. Synchronet also supports related tools and projects, including SyncTERM and SEXPOTS, which adds dial-up modem access to Windows TCP, socket, or Telnet-based BBS systems.

The website provides software downloads, documentation, FAQs, support resources, community chat, and a directory of BBSes. It also shares development updates and preserves historical material about Synchronet and the broader BBS community.
