Synnyttäjien oikeudet

Synnyttäjien oikeudet ry is a Finnish nationwide organisation founded in 2023 to promote the rights of people giving birth. It advocates for those rights throughout the journey of planning a pregnancy, pregnancy, childbirth and the period after birth. The organisation welcomes all birthing people, regardless of birth method or location, financial circumstances, gender identity, family structure, religion or background. Its goal is a birthing and family-centred culture of care in which informed consent, personal autonomy and respectful treatment are upheld.

The organisation raises awareness of birthing people’s rights, highlights shortcomings in the healthcare system and works collaboratively to seek solutions. It also aims to foster dialogue among birthing people and their families, sexual and reproductive health professionals, volunteers and decision-makers. Its community includes people who have given birth as well as maternity-care professionals, including midwives and doulas. Its activities include the Rikki synnytyksen jälkeen campaign, information about birth injuries and birth-related tears, and opportunities to join as a member.
